Immersive theatre piece for a single spectator wearing a HMD (head-mounted display) that introduces him/her into a virtual world of a son’s encounter with his mother after his cancer diagnosis.
The spectator, who participates alone in the experience, is equipped with an HMD with which he accesses an animated virtual world, in which the only actress who actually interacts with him is integrated by motion capture. The narrative emerges from the relationship of a mother recently diagnosed with terminal cancer with her son or daughter, accompanying the person throughout an hour in which she performs a monologue with various physical interactions. The piece was born in the National Theatre’s Immersive Storytelling Studio, which aims to explore immersive theatricalities.
